Ayahuasca in Tambopata – Life‑Changing Retreat with Tronco Tambopata Adventures

“Traveling to the jungle isn’t just about discovering a place -it’s about rediscovering yourself.”

Every year, thousands of travelers from around the world come to the Amazon not just for nature and wildlife, but for something deeper: a journey of inner healing and transformation. At Tronco Tambopata, we invite you to take part in one of the most powerful ancestral rituals of the Peruvian jungle: The Ayahuasca Ceremony.

What is Ayahuasca, Really?

Ayahuasca, from the Quechua words aya (soul) and waska (vine), is a sacred brew prepared with two key Amazonian plants:

  • Banisteriopsis caapi (the “vine of the soul”)

  • Psychotria viridis (commonly called chacruna)

On their own, these plants are non-psychoactive. But when combined, they activate DMT (dimethyltryptamine) — a naturally ocurring molecule known for its powerful visionary effects. dfdf

🧬 Did you know? DMT is naturally found in many living organisms, including the human brain. Some researchers believe it may be linked to dreams and near-death experiences.

Why Do People Seek the Ayahuasca Experience?

In recent years, ayahuasca has gained attention for its potential therapeutic benefits. Research has shown promising results in treating

✅Depression resistant to traditional treatment.
✅PTSD and unresolved trauma.
✅Addiction and harmful behavioral patterns.
✅Grief, emotional blockages, and low self-esteem.

But beyond the medical benefits, ayahuasca offers something more profound — a spiritual awakening

“I wasn’t looking for visions. I was looking for myself. And I found me.”

What Happens During the Ceremony?

🕯️ The ceremony takes place at night, in a quiet space under the stars. It begins with protective rituals, energetic cleansing, and sacred songs (icaros), followed by the serving of the brew.

⏳ Within 20–30 minutes, participants may begin to experience:

  • Intense visions (colors, memories, symbols).

  • Emotional release through laughter, tears, or purging (vomiting)

  • Deep connection with nature, ancestors, or the self

  • Powerful inner messages and spiritual clarity

🙏 The following morning, we hold a guided integration session to help you process and understand what you experienced.

Is It Safe? Who Should Avoid It?

Ayahuasca is not recreational, and it’s not for everyone. Please consult a doctor if you have any of the following:

  • Heart conditions or high blood pressure

  • Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or unstable psychiatric diagnoses

  • Recent use of SSRIs or other antidepressants

You must also avoid the following substances at least 48 hours before the ceremony:

  • Alcohol, caffeine, or recreational drugs

  • Red meats or heavily processed foods

  • Dairy, spicy foods, and sexual activity

Music plays a vital role in Ayahuasca ceremonies. Sacred songs called ícaros, along with drums and maracas, help guide the journey—shaping the energy, offering comfort, and deepening the experience.

And after the ceremony?

We recommend taking 1 or 2 days to rest, write, hike through the jungle, meditate, or simply breathe.
